Nonprofit Organization Management
After 12 years as Florida Director and Executive Director for the Urban Land Institute’s Southeast Florida/Caribbean District Council, Ms Coleman recently retired from ULI and launched Coleman & Associates Consulting. The firm’s focus is on providing planning, special project management, and facilitation services for various real estate-oriented projects.
Her career has long focused on strategic problem-solving, especially in fields such as redevelopment strategies, governmental policy, and higher education administration.
While with ULI, she managed the organization through strategic growth and community engagement for issues such as So FL’s infrastructure needs, changing demographics, and how redevelopment can create more livable communities.
A So FL resident for 42 years, she has a strong record of public service and leadership in professional and civic organizations. In 2002 she was honored to be chosen as one of So FL’s 50 most successful businesswomen by Fast Track Magazine.
Past career posts include 18 years at Florida Atlantic University – 13 as Senior Vice President for University Advancement. When appointed as Vice President at FAU in 1990 at the age of 38, she was one of only three female vice presidents in the State University System. She helped lead FAU through a time of tremendous growth, as well as creating and managing the university’s only capital campaign ($220 Million). She also spent almost a decade in various staff positions for the Florida Legislature.
Ms Coleman recently served on the Executive Committee for the SE FL HUD Sustainable Communities Initiative Grant (Seven50), and currently is a member of the University of Miami’s Real Estate Program Advisory Board, where she chairs the Events and Programs Committee.
